چکیده

A variety of benign and malignant masses can be found in the inguinal canal (IC). Benign causes of masses in the IC include spermatic cord lipoma, hematoma, abscess, neurofibroma, varicocele, desmoid tumor, air, bowel contrast material, hydrocele, and prostheses. Primary neoplasms of the IC include liposarcoma, Burkitt lymphoma, testicular carcinoma, and sarcoma. Metastases to the IC can occur from alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, monophasic sarcoma, prostate cancer, Wilms tumor, carcinoid tumor, melanoma, or pancreatic cancer. In patients with a known malignancy and peritoneal carcinomatosis, the diagnosis of metastases can be suggested when a mass is detected in the IC. When peritoneal disease is not evident, a mass in the IC is indicative of stage IV disease and may significantly alter clinical and surgical treatment of the patient. A combination of the clinical history, symptoms, laboratory values, and radiologic features aids the radiologist in accurately diagnosing mass lesions of the IC. I-41: Imaging Strategy for Diagnosis of Adnexal Masses Including US,CT Scan and MRI

Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...

MRI revealed well-defined, thinwal...

The inguinal and femoral canals: A practical step-by-step approach to accurate sonographic assessment

Ultrasonography (USG) is an accepted and reliable tool for the assessment of groin hernias. However, USG of the groin is operator dependent and challenging. The anatomy of this region is complex and the normal sonographic findings can be difficult to interpret. We describe the relevant normal anatomy of the groin relating to inguinal and femoral hernias, and describe a straightforward, reliable...

Total Inguinal Canal Mobilization in Two-Stage Orchiopexy

Background: Many different techniques have been described to treat undescended testes. We aimed to study a new technique of two-stage orchiopexy with total inguinal canal mobilization to prevent cord damage and testicular atrophy. Methods: Between March 2002 and July 2005, we operated on 16 testes with short spermatic cord. In the first stage, the testes were anchored to the pubic tubercle and ...
